Slipping on Our Trance Pants at EZOO: Saturday at Riverside

Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer season, and for the last six years, Made Event has brought an unforgettable event to the Upper East Side of NYC: Electric Zoo. This multi-genre music festival brings together dance-music enthusiasts from all walks of life and caters to all of our needs: may it be trance, techno, electro, dubstep and anything else that we can groove to. All of your friends are probably going (at least for one day), so what is stopping you from ending the summer with a bass-filled BANG?

But I’m here to talk a little bit about TRANCE. Remember when trance was a “thing"? We jammed to the melodies, sang along with the touching lyrics and held hands as we dance into the night? Some people are proclaiming that “trance is dead,” but I beg to differ. Because I will be ‘adulting’ on Friday night, personally I will only be able to make it to the Zoo for the Saturday festivities and I am not mad about it one bit. The Riverside stage at Electric Zoo will be hosting a massive trance lineup that touches all of the bases: psytrance, uplifting trance, big-room trance and everything in between.

I don’t see myself moving much from the Riverside stage at all that Saturday, except to head over to the main stage to see Above & Beyond and shed a few tears of joy. Hosting a lineup consisting of Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Arctic Moon, Orjan Nilsen, Simon Patterson and Solarstone, I have absolutely no reason to venture anywhere else in the festival that day. We can be assured that the New York City Trance Family will come out in full force to support these artists.

Throughout the years, all of these artists have packed some of NYC’s most famed concert venues, sharing beautiful melodies, lyrics and bass-lines that literally make our hearts sing. Please excuse me while I fan-girl a little bit. Solarstone creates some of the most painfully beautiful music my ears have ever heard and is head of the extremely popular Pure Trance Movement. Simon Patterson is the host of the super successful Open Up Podcast and is one of the most talented psytrance producer/DJ's on the planet. Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten are both playing separately this time around (instead of as New World Punx) and will be sure to bring some seriously funky and deep sounds. Together they've produced some serious trance classics (too many to name) and played on practically every major stage on the globe. Can you tell I'm excited? You should be too!  I can’t wait to see what these guys have in store for us!  Check out some of their most recent sets and podcasts below and get excited for the day!

Weekend and day passes are still available. Single day tickets start at $99.00 and weekend passes start at $239.00...but not for long! Tickets jump up $60 to $299.99 this FRIDAY 8/21. Don’t forget to pick up a ferry of shuttle pass unless you’ll be walking to Randalls Island!
